About the Department- Mission & Vision


MUSIC VOCAL

The Department of Music, established in 1974, is one of the oldest and most distinguished departments of the institution, maintaining its eminence over the years. The department offers both instrumental and vocal music as core areas of study. Its primary objective is not only to impart musical knowledge but also to transform students by developing positive skills that empower them to pursue successful careers.

To enhance students’ competence and overall development, the department regularly organizes a variety of activities throughout the year, including talent hunts, quiz competitions, seminars, lecture-cum-demonstrations, and guest lectures. These initiatives aim to strengthen both theoretical understanding and practical expertise.

The department provides training in a wide range of musical instruments such as  Harmonium & Keyboard. It also offers instruction in diverse vocal genres, including Classical Vocal, Folk Songs, Bollywood Music, Western Singing, Ghazal, and Sufi music, thereby enriching students’ knowledge and creativity in the field of music.

In addition, students are actively encouraged to participate in Youth Festivals, inter-college competitions, and performances organized by various cultural and academic societies. These opportunities help students develop confidence, independence, teamwork, and collaborative skills.

Objectives:

·       To provide traditional classical music education to students of different backgrounds and revive the legacy of our Indian Classical Music

·       To inculcate nuances of music by paving a strong foundation of basics

·       To give individual attention to students and bring out their talent

·       To make a student accessible to extensive learning material in the form of authentic audio, video, and textual resources

·       To focus on shaping a student to take up music as a profession

·       To extend music as an additional subject to students of different disciplines
