About Us

The Department of Music is one of the oldest departments of the institution, which has retained its eminence for years. The department has both music instrument and music vocal as subjects. The objective of the department is not only to give the students knowledge but also to transform the students with positive skills that will empower them to obtain careers. The department also organizes different types of activities such as talent hunts, quiz competitions, seminars, lecture cum demonstrations, guest lectures, etc. throughout the year to develop competence and skills among the students. Various instruments such as Sitar, Harmonium, Tabla, Sarangi, Flute, Been, Tumbi, Dhol, Dholak, and different genres of singing like Classical vocal, Folk Song, Bollywood Songs, Western Singing, Ghazal, and Sufi music are taught to the students to enhance their knowledge and creativity in the field of music.

Along with this, the department also indulges its students in Youth Festivals, Intercollege competitions, and performances on different occasions organized by different societies, which helps students to develop independent and collaborative work habits.

·       To provide traditional classical music education to students of different backgrounds and revive the legacy of our Indian Classical Music

·       To inculcate nuances of music by paving a strong foundation of basics

·       To give individual attention to students and bring out their talent

·       To make a student accessible to extensive learning material in the form of authentic audio, video, and textual resources

·       To focus on shaping a student to take up music as a profession

·       To extend music as an additional subject to students of different disciplines
