Workshop (12-04-2024)

Under the guidance of the Institution’s Innovation Council Department of Music Vocal organized a workshop on “Nritya mein Gayan ka Sathaan” with the collaboration of Department of Dance. Students improved their rhythmic and expressive awareness. In Indian classical dance forms, music serves as the soul, guiding the performance's rhythm, mood, and expression. Each dancer's movement is intricately woven with the melody, rhythm, and lyrics of the accompanying music. Through the melodic nuances and lyrical interpretations, dancers convey emotions, narratives, and spiritual themes with finesse and depth. Ragas (melodic frameworks) and talas (rhythmic cycles) form the backbone of Indian classical music and dance. Dancers often perform to specific ragas and talas, each imbued with its unique mood, tempo, and aesthetic appeal. The melodic contours of ragas evoke varied emotions, while the rhythmic patterns of talas provide a structured framework for the dancer's improvisation and synchronization. The harmonious coordination of melody, rhythm, and movement captivates the audience, transporting them to realms of beauty, emotion, and spirituality. Whether it's the graceful movements of Bharatanatyam, the vibrant expressions of Kathak, or the lyrical storytelling., the symbiotic relationship of music and dance mesmerizes and enchants spectators worldwide. This session epitomizes the inseparable bond between music and dance in Indian classical arts. Through their symbiotic relationship, music and dance transcend individual expressions, merging into a sublime form of artistic expression. Students shared their views on the topic. Dr. Sugandhi Bhandari expressed theoretical and practical knowledge about the subject and Mrs. Anu Bala expressed her views to the students. Ms. Samratha, a classical dancer of the college, of the 6th semester, performed on thumri “sab ban than ayi shyam payari re” and later she performed on Sawal Jawab and ended with tehai of teental.
